Jet Set: Barcelona
- X
If the Barcelona leg of Jet Set made you want to see the city for yourself, this bookable four-night family itinerary is your way in. It puts you in front of Gaudi’s landmark buildings, on a private walk through the old city, and in a hotel at the center of it all. The link below opens the full trip, where you can change, edit, or lengthen any part of it.
A Family Base in Barcelona
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, a Mediterranean city where a medieval old town, wide modern boulevards, and Gaudi’s playful, curving buildings all sit within a short ride of each other. A private taxi meets you at Barcelona-El Prat Airport and takes you to Hotel Casa Elliot, your base for four nights, so you skip the transit and arrive ready to settle in.
Gaudi’s Barcelona
Park Guell is the stop the kids will talk about. Gaudi designed this hillside park, and your entrance ticket covers its highlights: the Dragon Stairway, where a mosaic salamander known as El Drac stands guard, the Hypostyle Room with its forest of columns, and a serpentine bench that winds along the terrace. The Gaudi House Museum is part of the visit too. Afterward, the Gracia district nearby is an easy place for a relaxed lunch.
Then comes the Sagrada Familia. Gaudi’s basilica is still being built, and its towers rise above the street in carved stone that looks different from every angle. Your ticket includes an audio guide, so everyone in the family can move at their own pace and hear the story behind what they are looking at.
Passeig de Gracia and the Old City
For the third piece of the trip, a private three-hour guided walking tour brings the city together. It starts on Passeig de Gracia, the grand boulevard lined with some of Barcelona’s most striking buildings: Casa Batllo, La Pedrera, Casa Amatller, and Casa Lleo i Morera. Several of them stand on one block known as La Manzana de la Discordia, where neighboring houses compete for your attention. Because the tour is private, your guide can match the pace to your family and answer every question.
From there, the walk carries on through Placa Catalunya and down Las Ramblas, the lively tree-lined street that leads toward the harbor. Stop at the Boqueria market, where stalls of fruit, snacks, and local food make an easy lunch for a hungry group. The tour ends in the Gothic Quarter, a tangle of narrow medieval lanes and old stone squares that feels a world away from the boulevards you started on.
