If Richard Ayoade and Sally Phillips’s weekend in Stockholm on Travel Man made you want to see the city for yourself, this bookable three-day itinerary is built to get you there. It puts you inside ABBA’s story, out among the islands of the archipelago, and on a bus loop that shows you the city’s skyline and waterfront. The link below opens the full trip, where you can change, edit, or lengthen any part of it.

Hop On, Look Up

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, a city spread across islands where water shows up around nearly every corner. Start by getting your bearings on the hop-on hop-off bus. Ride the loop, watch the city roll past, and hop off wherever something grabs you. Your base is Downtown Camper by Scandic, the itinerary hotel, so you start and end each day close to the action.

ABBA, Up Close

Then comes the stop that will have you humming for days. ABBA The Museum sits on Djurgarden, Stockholm’s green museum island, and your skip-the-line ticket takes you straight in, no waiting on the pavement. Sweden’s biggest pop export gets a full museum, and it is built for fans and for people who only think they are not fans until the chorus arrives. Plan to sing along. Everyone does.

Out to the Archipelago

Next, leave the city behind. The Stockholm Archipelago Cruise carries you out into thousands of islands scattered across the Baltic, where red cabins sit among rocks and pines and the air tastes like salt. It is the part of Stockholm you will see on no city map, and you will not want to head back to shore.

Add the Episode’s Highlights

A few moments from the episode drop neatly into your own days. Pause for fika, the Swedish coffee break of strong coffee and something sweet that locals take seriously, and order meatballs for a proper Swedish meal. For a view you cannot get from the street, add a rooftop tour of the old parliament building on Riddarholmen and look out over the old town from above.
