In the episode, Gill takes on Lisbon with a city and beach break. This trip explores the same capital, built around a private tour, a morning in Belem, and a Fado night. The link at the end opens the full trip, and you can change any part of it.
A Private Tour of Lisbon
Lisbon is Portugal’s capital, a hilly city on the Tagus River where old neighborhoods, steep streets, and river views sit close together. The itinerary makes it easy to take in. A private taxi meets you at Lisbon Portela Airport and takes you to Corpo Santo Hotel, your base for three nights, so you arrive without working out transit or hunting for a ride.
Day 2 is a three-hour private tour with your own guide. It starts in Alfama, the old quarter, where narrow lanes wind up the hillside and a local guide can point out the details you would walk past on your own. From there you move through the city center and ride the Elevador da Gloria, a funicular that climbs the hill from downtown. At the top is Bairro Alto, a neighborhood of small streets lined with bars and restaurants. Because the tour is private, you set the pace and can linger wherever something catches your eye.
Belem and the Tagus
Belem sits along the Tagus on the western side of the city, and it makes a good change of pace from the hills of Alfama. Jeronimos Monastery is the landmark here, a large stone monastery with carved detail worth slowing down for. Walk the grounds and look closely at the stonework, then head toward the water. The Tagus runs alongside, so you can pair the monastery with time by the river.

Fado Night
Day 3 ends with a Fado show with dinner. Fado is Portugal’s traditional music, usually sung to guitar and known for emotional songs about longing. The evening runs two hours, with a driver and guide included, so you can enjoy dinner and the performance and get back to your hotel without planning the ride. After a day of walking, it is an easy, memorable way to end the trip.

Add a little extra magic to your dinner with a cozy Fado show.
Add the Episode’s Extras
Gill’s Lisbon break pairs the city with the coast, and you can do the same. Add a beach day to balance the sightseeing, book a surf lesson if you want to try the sport, or set aside time for a round of golf at the westernmost point of Continental Europe. Each one drops easily into the free time around the itinerary.
