If the Stockholm leg of Jet Set made you want to see the city for yourself, this bookable four-night itinerary is your way in. It pairs a private tour with a local guide, an afternoon inside ABBA’s story, and a cruise through the canals. The link below opens the full trip, where you can change, edit, or lengthen any part of it.

A Local’s Stockholm

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, a city spread across islands where the water is never far from view. A private taxi meets you at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and takes you to Best Western Kom Hotel, your base for four nights, so you skip the transit and arrive ready to settle in.

The best way to get your bearings is a four-hour private tour with a local guide. You cover Gamla Stan, the old town of narrow lanes and historic buildings, then Ostermalm, a polished district of grand streets, and City Hall, a landmark on the water. Because the guide is private and local, you hear the stories and the tips that never make it into a guidebook, and you can steer the walk toward whatever catches your eye.

ABBA on Djurgarden

Djurgarden is Stockholm’s museum island, a green stretch of parks and attractions that make an easy half day. ABBA The Museum is the headline stop. Your skip-the-line ticket gets you straight in, and two hours is enough to follow the group’s story from the beginning, see the stage costumes, and leave with the songs stuck in your head. It suits music fans, families, and anyone who has ever sung along to a chorus.

On the Water

Stockholm is best seen from the water, and the Royal Djurgarden Canal Cruise is a relaxed way to do it. The 50-minute cruise glides through the canals around Djurgarden with an audio guide telling you what you are passing, and you meet at Stromkajen. It is a calm hour after a busy morning, with a different view of the city than you get from the street.

Add the Episode’s Highlights

Gill’s Stockholm leg went farther out, sailing around the archipelago, the scatter of islands east of the city. You can add a sail of your own for a bigger look at the water than the canal cruise offers. The episode also had her dining at Operakallaren, a restaurant whose head chef cooks for the Swedish royal family, and you can plan a dressed-up dinner of your own at the end of the trip.
