Discovering Cape Town

In the Journey Within episode, Marilia Moreno's Cape Town journey unfolds through mentors, creative breakthroughs, spiritual ritual and ancestral connection. This itinerary follows the same going-deeper idea from one base, the Cloud 9 Boutique Hotel and Spa. It covers the history of Robben Island, the winelands, the mountain and the peninsula, with a Big Five safari day added on. The link below opens the full trip, and every part of it can be customized.

Start With the Story

A 3.5-hour guided tour of Robben Island anchors the historical side of the trip, and a half-day guided tour of central Cape Town sits alongside it. The island ferry leaves from the V&A Waterfront, so it makes sense to plan the sailing around a morning at the harbor. The island's history as a prison ties directly to the episode's theme of ancestral connection.

The Mountain and the Peninsula

A full day in the winelands covers the wine route and tastings. Table Mountain comes next, reached by cable car. If you want a different view, the itinerary also offers ascent tickets paired with a 30-minute paragliding flight, with the mountain as the backdrop.

The full-day guided Cape Peninsula tour follows the coastal roads to the southwestern tip and back. It runs eight hours and takes in cliffs, beaches and open ocean.

One Day, the Big Five

The final full day is a nine-hour Big Five safari trip from the city. It adds big-game viewing without a hotel change, and transfers are included, so the day runs door to door.

The itinerary books as a single trip through the link below. If you want more time on the water or in the vineyards, add a second peninsula day or extra time in the winelands. Or keep it as it is. Click through and shape it into your own.
